(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 23 - Disneyland Paris, on the occasion of the World Energy Day, announces the construction of one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Europe.
Launched last June, the structure is located inside the parking lot dedicated to visitors and will have a dual function: to reduce the emission of 750 tons of Co2 and protect cars from bad weather making the parking even safer and above all green, explains a note from the group that creates the project in partnership with the French company Urbansolar.
The plant is made up of 67,500 solar panels that will power about 17% of the electricity consumption of the destination: the equivalent of a city of 14,500 inhabitants.
Once finished, part of the installation will light up at night representing Mickey's head.
This project, explains the joint note, is part of six key initiatives that aim at the well-being of the environment: reduction of gas emissions, differentiated collection to reduce the use of plastic, water purification with a purifier, protection and safeguard biodiversity, development of a responsible supply chain and finally supporting global actions aimed at preserving the environment for future generations.
The site already has a geothermal power plant located at Villages Nature Paris which transforms the heat and vapors present in the subsoil into energy, thus managing to heat the water of the two Disney Parks and the Disneyland Hotel.
