Following the rise in morbidity in Greece, it was decided this morning (Friday) that Athens and its environs will go under night curfew as early as tomorrow.

Meaning - every day, from 00:30 to 05:00, Athens and the surrounding cities will enter a total curfew without the possibility of leaving the houses, except for those who hold exceptional permits.

Currently, there is an increase in the number of people infected in Greece trying to stem the spread of the epidemic and stop the second wave.

The Ministry of Health still defines Greece as a green country, until the next update that is expected to be published towards the end of the week, it is important to note that the update will take effect only about a week after the announcement of the country being marked red, if that happens.

There are currently thousands of Israelis in Greece vacationing in the various cities.

Many of the Israelis are in Athens, which will enter into a night curfew as early as tomorrow.

The area that will be part of the decision on the night curfew counts about half of the country’s population.

The Greek prime minister said: “The coming months will be difficult, I prefer not to opt for a general closure, so we are taking other measures to curb the spread of the epidemic in Greece.

Yesterday, 882 new corona cases were diagnosed in Greece and 15 deaths were recorded.

These are relatively low numbers compared to what we experienced in Israel in the second wave, but these are high numbers compared to the last few months in Greece.

However, there are still areas defined as green in Greece, the significant spread is recorded in the north of the country.

Currently there are two green countries that accept tourists with Israeli passports and they are Greece and Serbia.

Serbia is also likely to turn red next week following some increase in infection rates in the country.

If the decision is made, Israeli tourists may find themselves without green countries willing to accept them.

However, there are negotiations with other green countries that may accept the Israeli tourist due to the decline in the morbidity rate in the country.

Prominent among the countries is Cyprus, which is expected to allow Israeli tourists to enter its territory in about a week and a half.
