The greens of the Algarve aim for excellence

2020-10-23T05:19:45.119Z

The southern region of Portugal is regularly praised for its remarkable golfing infrastructure. Its flagship, Quinta do Lago, has just revamped one of its two courses.

At the time of the Covid, the Algarve ticks all the boxes of the ideal winter golfing destination more than ever.

Bathed in sunshine all year round, it runs forty-three routes over its 4960 km2 and does not require visitors to quarantine today.

To this must be added a luxury hotel offer, breathtaking coves in the north of the region and immense white sand beaches in the heart of the Ria Formosa nature reserve, further south.

So many reasons that explain why the Algarve has just been elected again, in 2020, "best golf destination in the world" by the World Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).

It's a safe bet that the Quinta do Lago estate - spreading over its 260 hectares, manicured greens, luxury hotels and villas, like a Californian resort - largely contributed to winning this award.

Its two courses, the South and the North, are among the most beautiful in the region, which has earned them record attendance in all seasons.
