The art installation in Washington, DC was designed by the American Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg.

"When I read in the newspaper in mid-August that the number 170,000 was nothing more than a statistic - I flinched inside. I didn't want to leave it like that. I decided that I would like my art wants to use it to make the number tangible for people. 175,000. That is such a high number - people cannot understand it. "

Judy is my sister. There were
seven of us
. She was the third oldest. She died in June, June 5th. I am honored to be here today to show the world our love for her She was a lovable person. Always gave. Passionately bowled. For 30 or 35 years. And she was very spiritual. Loved her family. Was always there. We could count on her. "
