This summer, traversed by the coronavirus pandemic, it will not be like any other.

Tourism agencies perceive that

family vacations

will return with force

, to make up for lost time.

In addition, the stays will be longer than usual, 15 days.

These are the first data from the reservations of the PreTravel program, launched this month by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, led by Matías Lammens.

Its objective is that people advance the purchase by 2021 and

obtain a credit

- 50% of what was spent - to use in more tourist services, in that destination or in another.

From the ministry they assure that the amount of sales

grows "minute by minute"

and that - until Friday morning - it was 300 million pesos sold.

The average of each purchase is

30 thousand pesos

.

Iguazú leads the Despegar ranking among the most chosen places for vacations.

From Despegar they report that the possibility of traveling again added to the "impulse" of the PreTravel plan made Argentines think about their well-deserved vacations.

"

Reservations and inquiries have increased

significantly," they point out.

In Almundo, since PreViaje began, they registered

228% more daily bookings

for domestic destinations, compared to the first week of October.

The campaign had the greatest impact on hotels, whose daily reservations increased 1,014%, followed by packages (762%) and air tickets (83%).

Another that celebrates is Turismocity.

Their spokespersons assure that in October - when PreViaje started - there was an increase in reservations to domestic destinations of 140%, compared to the previous month.

Longer trips

Since PreViaje was launched, the average stay in national tourism has risen.

"For next summer we see that the average will be

15 days of travel

, a significant increase compared to the 10 days average last year," said Paula Cristi, Despegar's general manager for Argentina and Uruguay.

The same trend is observed in Almundo.

“On average, stays for trips through Argentina

increased to 15 days

.

In previous years, the average was lower ”, they comment from the agency.

Bariloche has already made pilot experiences for the return of tourist activity.

Along these lines, Booking anticipates more long vacations

to multiple destinations

, whether in the country or internationally.

Between March 2019 and March 2020, Argentines made an average of 1.7 trips of this type.

"For the next few months, they plan to increase this number with an average of 2 trips," they point out.

Family vacation

The agencies note that there are travel plans

in larger groups

, implying that this time the family spends the summer together and the children do not make a separate plan.

"Individual trips have decreased, at the same time that

those of three or more people doubled

, especially for the months of January and February," they point out from Despegar.

They add that the return to summer as a family grew considerably, probably due to the need to

reconnect with affections

, after a year where family encounters have not been easy.

Salta is the favorite of the Argentine north.

"63% of Argentines say they want to take a trip to take advantage and reconnect with their loved ones," agree from Booking, based on their own survey.

The same work indicates that 73% of Argentine travelers think to enjoy the little things, like

spending time with the family

during vacations.

And 41% plan to take a trip to compensate for an occasion that they could not celebrate due to the pandemic, such as birthdays, births and anniversaries.

The most chosen destinations

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the destinations most chosen by users of the PreTravel program are Bariloche, Ushuaia, the Coast, Iguazú, and El Calafate.

Iguazú

leads the Despegar ranking among the most chosen places to enjoy vacations during January, in the new normal, while

Bariloche

is the most sought after destination by users of Booking, Almundo, and TurismoCity.

There was a growth of searches for

Villa La Angostura

,

Ushuaia

and

San Martín de los Andes

.

It may be because, globally, interest in hiking (94%), clean air (50%), nature (44%) and relaxation (33%) have increased since the start of the pandemic, according to a Booking report.

Tigre climbed 45 positions in Booking searches.

There was also a lot of interest in

Mendoza

.

And, of the northern provinces, the favorite is

Salta

.

With regard to

the Coast

, the most sought after so far is Mar del Plata, Pinamar, Villa Gesell and Mar de las Pampas.

Another city that remains firm in the interest is

Buenos Aires

, which this summer will receive many visits from the interior of the country.

For example, Kayak ranks first in searches for domestic flights: they offer them from Córdoba (starting at $ 7,546), Mendoza ($ 10,815) and Santa Fe ($ 7,688).

Getaways also stomp.

In the first week of October after the launch of PreViaje,

Tigre

climbed 45 positions in Booking searches, compared to the same week last year.

For its part, Turismocity builds a profile of travelers:

Patagonia

is positioned as a destination for couples, while

the Coast

is the destination for families with children.

On trips with friends,

Córdoba

gains relevance.
