To cope with the pandemic, a Singaporean airline is selling meals served on board a plane that remains on the tarmac

The plane will not take off.

And yet, people are eating inside the craft.

In Singapore, those nostalgic for air travel can enjoy a meal aboard an A380, the world's largest passenger plane.

The cheapest meal is 53 Singapore dollars (33 euros) in economy class.

Faced with the collapse of air traffic since the start of the epidemic, several companies in Australia, Japan and Taiwan have offered "flights to nowhere", which leave and land at the same airport, to replenish their finances.

The airline Singapore Airlines (SIA) considered this option for a while before giving it up in favor of commercial proposals that have less impact on the environment.

It decided to transform an A380 into an ephemeral restaurant, with resounding success: the 900 seats offered for a meal on October 24 and 25 were sold on Monday in less than half an hour.

Faced with this success, the company has indicated that it will extend this offer to two more days for lunch and dinner.

To respect social distancing, half of the seats on the device remain empty.
