She rarely appeared in public lately - Adele appeared on US television over the weekend.

On the show "Saturday Night Live" she joked about her weight loss, among other things.

"I know that I look very, very different than when you last saw me," said the British singer on the show.

"But because of all the Corona and travel restrictions, I had to travel with little weight and could only bring half of myself."

Adele said that was the half she chose.

She pointed to her visibly slim figure.

Adele hosted the comedy show - but did not appear on the show as a singer, even if she sang briefly in skits every now and then.

Her new album was not yet finished, the musician stated as a reason.

In 2008 the singer released the debut album "19", named after her age at the time.

Her international breakthrough came in 2009 with the single "Chasing Pavements".

In 2011 the hit album "21" followed, which sold over 30 million times.

In 2012 she received the Oscar for the James Bond theme song "Skyfall" together with Paul Epworth.

In the same year their son Angelo was born.
