Nicaragua will request the extradition of Juan Darthés

Thelma Fardin's lawyer in Nicaragua, Eilyn Cruz, affirmed that the Public Prosecutor's Office of that country made a request for "certification of the judicial file

" to begin the formal extradition process of actor Juan Darthés, who is in Brazil accused of "aggravated rape" after the complaint of the actress in 2018.

Darthés, whose real name is Juan Rafael Pacífico Dabul, is based in Brazil, the country where he was born and where he decided to take refuge after the rape complaint since he has dual Argentine and Brazilian nationality.

The lawyer pointed out that "the procedure for" this process "lasts a long time," adding that

"If he leaves the country he can be detained wherever he is, that is why he does not dare to leave because he only has a mobility permit in Brazil," he said, and stressed that even if the extradition is not complied with, "it does not mean that there is impunity."

The actress Thelma Fardin accused Darthés in 2018, together with the Actrices Argentinas collective, of raping her in 2009 in Nicaragua while they were filming a children's strip, when she was 16 and he was 45.

The criminal complaint was made in the specialized gender prosecutor's unit of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nicaragua because the judicial presentation must be made in the country where the fact to be investigated occurred.
