(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 27 - Judge Amy Coney Barrett was sworn in during a ceremony at the White House.

He is now in effect a member of the US Supreme Court.

"It is a privilege to have been called to serve my country", were her first words after the oath.

"I will hold my position independently of politics and my own preferences," Barrett added.

"This is a historic day for America," DonaldTrump said at the ceremony.

"I greet the first mother of school-aged children to become a judge of the Supreme Court", underlined the US president.

This time all with masks and respect for the distance on the lawn in front of the White House.

Otherwise it had gone during the ceremony for the appointment of Barrett, which became a super diffuser event of the infection from Covid-19, with dozens of people later testing positive including Trump.
