More than two weeks after a fatal collision on the A66 near Hofheim am Taunus, a suspicious Lamborghini driver is still on the run.
Spokeswoman Nadja Niesen said that he had offered the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office a deal, which the authority did not accept.
The man wanted to surrender on the condition that the arrest warrant against him be lifted.
The prerequisites for this still exist, said Niesen.
The HR had previously reported on the suspect's claim.
The investigators had initially assumed that three people involved in an illegal car race caused an accident in which a 70-year-old died.
Meanwhile, the public prosecutor assumes that another driver pulled out shortly before the accident on October 10th.
As a result, one of the sports car drivers lost control of his vehicle at high speed and crashed into the car, the driver of which died.
A total of three sports car drivers are no longer being investigated for murder, but for "taking part in prohibited motor vehicle races".
Two drivers were detained for a week.
The third driver, who is still being searched for, had fled.
