A few hours before the start of confinement, which will come into force at midnight on the night of Thursday to Friday, the number of new deaths linked to the coronavirus daily continues to number in the hundreds.
According to the latest official figures, 235 deaths have been recorded in hospitals in the past 24 hours, against 244 on Wednesday and 288 on Tuesday.
This brings the number of people who have died in hospital since the start of the pandemic in France to 24,659.
In total, the Covid-19 caused the death of 36,020 people, counting the deaths enumerated in social and medico-social establishments such as nursing homes.
More than 21,160 people hospitalized
Some 3,147 patients are to date cared for in intensive care units, or 111 more patients compared to Wednesday taking into account discharges.

The number of people hospitalized because of the coronavirus is also growing very rapidly.

In one day, 47,637 positive cases have also been confirmed for a total close to 1.3 million cases since the start of the pandemic.
