If schools remain open, the rules will be tightened from November 2.

In addition to the mask which becomes mandatory from the CP, a series of measures were unveiled this Thursday evening to limit the risks of transmission of the virus.

For the time being, schools, colleges and high schools have been relatively untouched by the second wave.

And for good reason: they have been closed for two weeks!

The last week before the All Saints holidays, only 27 sites were completely closed out of nearly 61,500 while there were less than 9,000 confirmed cases in 12 million students and four times less among the staff.

Limit student mixing

The reinforced protocol, transmitted this Thursday to all local officials, provides in particular for a thorough cleaning of the premises, like what was done in June, for example disinfection "several times a day" of the door handles.

But most of the new rules aim above all to limit the mixing of students.

The Minister of National Education has thus asked school heads to spread out arrivals and departures.

Still in the same idea of restricting travel, Jean-Michel Blanquer invites principals and principals to ensure that there is only one room per class.

In other words, no more groups wandering the corridors in between.

Sometimes almost inapplicable

The measure is, however, almost inapplicable on the sites most at risk, namely high schools, where the reform, with the proliferation of options, has eliminated the classes as we still knew them last year.

Distance courses are not completely excluded.

The Minister leaves the principals free to organize them from the second to the final year.

Another challenge: the text to be implemented from Monday provides that the canteen is maintained, but with students who will stay a meter away from each other, will always sit in the same place, at the same time.

Again, from theory to practice, the gap is huge.

The rule could only be wishful thinking in large school housing estates.
