14 years after the last San Marino Grand Prix, won by Michael Schumacher with Ferrari in 2006, Formula 1 returns to the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, 13th round of the 2020 season and third in Italy after those of Monza and Mugello.

We will run behind closed doors due to the worsening of the situation of Covid-19 infections in Italy.

40 years have passed since the first time of the World Championship on the Santerno circuit, when the plant hosted the Italian GP in place of a Monza closed for modernization work.

"I have never competed in Imola, but everyone knows this circuit as it has been a regular presence on the calendar for many years. In 2006, the last time it was raced here, I was there, but I was only a team test rider. BMW Sauber. I have never even walked the track and this will be my absolute debut ": this is how Sebastian Vettel, in a note on the Ferrari website, approaches the Imola gp.

"The track is very beautiful but it does not forgive mistakes - he added - I can't wait to finally drive in this circuit".

"I raced in Imola only once, at the time of Formula Renault - the words instead of Charles Leclerc - I really like the track and driving here is exciting. There are very technical passages, especially some corners that do not allow margin for error. I think riders who don't know it will love Imola right away. "

"This weekend we will also be testing the format over two days - adds the Monegasque - even if, to be honest, we experienced something similar a couple of weeks ago, when we were unable to get out of the pits due to bad weather at the Gran Eifel prize. It will be interesting to see how this packed weekend unfolds. "

A new challenge for Lewis Hamilton, who does not need the stimulus to beat only himself and is now one step away from the seventh world title, a possible goal already in the next race, in Turkey.
