In October, Istat estimates a decrease in the consumer confidence climate index (from 103.3 to 102.0) while the composite index of business confidence rises from 91.3 to 92.9.
As regards the climate of consumer confidence, the Institute emphasizes, "a widespread and marked worsening of opinions on the general economic situation and the trend in unemployment is recorded, while the assessments on personal situations are less negative".
Instead, the recovery in business confidence continues, "albeit in a more moderate manner, with the index increasing for the fifth consecutive month. The improvement concerns industry and retail trade" while "the recovery, compared to levels preceding the health emergency, it is complete only for the construction sector ".
All the components of the consumer confidence climate, indicates Istat, are downsizing.
The economic climate and the future climate recorded the most marked decline, passing, respectively, from 94.5 to 87.8 and from 109.3 to 104.5.
The personal climate drops from 107.1 to 106.4 and the current climate decreases from 100.2 to 99.9.
Looking at businesses, the improvement in confidence has spread to industry and the retail sector.
In particular, in the manufacturing sector the index rose from 92.6 to 95.6 and in construction it increased from 138.6 to 142.5;
in retail trade, growth is more contained: the index goes from 97.5 to 99.3.
On the other hand, for market services there was a worsening in the climate of confidence which dropped from 88.7 to 88.1.
