A popular cheese product from Lidl can cause serious health damage if consumed.
Now the discount giant is reacting and extending the recall to all of the manufacturer's products.
Lidl
has to
initiate
the
recall *
for a
cheese product
: It is a goat cheese roll.
The
soft cheese range of
the discount giant is available in almost all federal states.
The “aromatic soft cheese made from goat's milk” can be particularly dangerous to children and pregnant women.
Update of 29 October, 11:38:
Laupheim - The
food discounter Lidl
rows back: Although the consumer portal
Produktrückrufe.de
had firmly pledged more products by manufacturer
JERMI cheese GmbH
are not affected by the recall, the situation appears completely different now to be.
Almost two weeks later,
Lidl
reports
that all JERMI soft cheese products labeled “
Goat cheese
roll
creamy / Aromatic soft cheese made from goat milk” must be returned or disposed of immediately.
The recall on October 15, 2020 initially only
affected
products with the
best before
date
November 5
,
2020
,
November
6
,
2020
and
November
9
,
2020
.
The
discounter
giant is
now extending
the
recall
to all
JERMI cheese products
in 100 gram packs and labeled “
My Käserei
Ziegenkäserolle” regardless of their
best-before
date.
The affected product was available from
Lidl
throughout Germany - with the exception of
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
.
Lidl
has already withdrawn the affected soft cheese from circulation.
Customers and goat cheese fans should now check their refrigerator for the cheese rolls with the
DE BW 331 EG identity
code to be on the safe side
, as they can
cause serious health
damage: The
bacteria
contained in the product
, so-called "Listeria monocytogenes", can have a
heavy stomach - and
cause
intestinal diseases
and flu-like symptoms.
UPDATE: # RECALL |
#WARNING |
ATTENTION: Detection of dangerous ´Listeria monocytogenes´- # contamination in MEINE KÄSEREI # Ziegenkäse.rolle von #LIDL> recall now extended to all best before dates https://t.co/L6fJmvScyE https://t.co/kf6fX47flz
- produktrueckruf.de (@Rueckrufportal) October 28, 2020
The bacteria
can be particularly
dangerous to infants, toddlers, pregnant women and people with a weakened immune system: The disease
listeriosis
can take on a particularly severe course in them, lead to blood poisoning,
brain or meningitis
and thus even be fatal.
In
pregnant women
, the bacteria can also
cause
premature births or miscarriages
.
JERMI
and
Lidl
now expressly apologize to their customers for the inconvenience and refund the purchase price to all those affected, even without a receipt.
Original post from October 16, 2020:
Lidl
is one of the most popular discount grocery stores in Germany, even though it was recently overtaken * by a competitor.
This may only be of interest to the company's management, from a consumer perspective it is more important that the products offered are of good quality and are affordable.
Cheese recall at Lidl: danger from microbiological contamination
However, there is a new problem in this regard: a
cheese product
must be
recalled
because of the risk of
microbiological contamination
.
Customers who
last bought
the “
creamy
goat cheese
roll / aromatic soft cheese made from goat milk” should not consume the food under any circumstances.
Reason: There is a threat of serious health effects.

The product comes from the manufacturer

from Laupheim - like the Lidl headquarters in Baden-Württemberg.
The contaminated cheese is offered nationwide in all federal states, the only exception being Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as reported by the Produktrueckätze.de portal.
Lidl: recall of soft cheese made from goat milk due to the risk of infection with listeria
What specific risks does Lidl's cheese product pose?
The contamination was found in the form of Listeria monocytogenes.
By enjoying the cheese product, consumers can contract
listeriosis
- this is
what
an
infection with listeria is
called.
This can
have very bad health effects in the medium term
, especially for risk groups such as pregnant women, newborns or people with a
weakened immune system
.

Manufacturer Jermi apologizes for the misconduct, Lidl emphasizes that only the goat cheese roll of the brand “Meine Käserei” is affected - a 100 gram pack.
In addition, as
HNA.de
* explains, only certain sales batches are
affected
by the
cheese recall
: These are the
best before dates on November 5th, 2020, November 6th, 2020 and November 9th, 2020
.
The identity code of the defective products is "
DE BW 331 EG
".
The
contaminated soft cheese
can be returned to any Lidl branch without presenting the receipt and the purchase price will be refunded.
This food contamination * is not an isolated case: Even a yogurt recall thwarted Lidl and Aldi’s plans: Anyone who recently bought an Ehrmann Almighurt should be careful.
