(ANSA) - CELAYA (MEXICO), OCTOBER 29 - At least 59 bodies were found in clandestine mass graves in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, the government's National Commission for the Search of the Missing (CNB) announced last night.
"We found 59 bodies in various underground graves and there are other places we continue to work on," said Karla Quintana, head of CNB in the municipality of Salvatierra, where the graves were discovered. "The overwhelming majority of the bodies appear to be young people, some likely teenagers," Quintana added in a press conference. Violence in the state of Guanajuato has escalated in recent months due to a clash between the Santa Rosade Lima and Jalisco Nueva Generacion cartels, both involved in drug and fuel trafficking.
