(ANSA) - LILLE, OCTOBER 29 - The toll of a migrant shipwreck in the English Channel on Tuesday rises: three people are missing, among them a child of just one year, while the bodies of two children and two adults were found two days ago near Dunkirk in the north of France.

With a total of seven deaths, of which three are missing, the shipwreck represents the one with the highest number of migrant victims in the English Channel, which is confirmed as one of the most dangerous nights for people fleeing wars and poverty.
The 4 bodies recovered in recent days and identified in the past few hours were found to belong to a 35-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and their two children, an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old child, all belonging to the same family originally from Sardasht, in 'Western Iran, said the Dunkirk prosecutor.
Some surviving passengers had reported the disappearance of their youngest son, just one year old, on the day of the shipwreck.
The identity of the victims was confirmed by a close relative living in France, overheard by the border police.
The investigation, launched immediately, also confirmed that the other two bodies belonged to two male passengers, whose identity it was not possible to establish.
According to reports, most of the passengers on board were Kurds, Iranians and Iraqis.
