Self-employed people who have to be placed in officially ordered quarantine may face a huge loss of earnings.
Is there any compensation from the state for this?
The corona pandemic is not only pushing people around the world to their limits in terms of health, but often also economically.
Anyone who falls ill with Covid-19, has had contact with an infected person or leaves a risk area usually has to be in state-ordered quarantine for 14 days.
During this time, employees receive compensation from the state through their employer * or - in the event of illness - sickness benefits.
But what about the self-employed?
When does the state provide quarantine aid for the self-employed?
So that the self-employed are also financially secure, there is also compensation assistance from the state in the event of falling income.
The Infection Protection Act (IfSG) provides for this in accordance with Section 56 (1).
However, this only applies if the
health department has ordered the isolation
and the self-employed cannot work in quarantine.

What about sick pay in quarantine?
If self-employed people in quarantine actually fall ill with the coronavirus, they are entitled to sickness benefits under the IfSG, just like employees.

Anyone who is voluntarily insured with a statutory health insurance company will receive sick pay after 15 days at the earliest.
