Fernando Alonso continues to prepare for his return to Formula 1 next season with Renault (which will become Alpine) after two years of absence.

Next week he will take part in a free practice session, Wednesday and Thursday, in Bahrain.

Alonso, 39, will drive the RS18, the single-seater that competed in the 2018 World Championship season, with private tests not allowed with the car of the current season.

The Spaniard, who won his two F1 world titles with the French manufacturer in 2005 and 2006, was still able to drive the 2020 Renault over 100 kilometers, the limit set by the regulations for a promotional shooting, in mid-October on the circuit of Barcelona.

His last appearance in an F1 race was at the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, driving a McLaren.

After leaving the single-seaters he won two editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the title of World Endurance Champion (WEC) with Toyota.

Alonso also took part in the Dakar where he finished 13 / o in 2020, and in the Indianapolis 500 in IndyCar (retirement in 2017, not qualified in 2019, 21 / o in 2020).
