Hundreds of thousands of people who arrived in the Polish capital are taking part in the "March on Warsaw" organized by the women's movement "The strike of women" in defense of the right to abortion.

The demonstration began in three squares from which three processions depart which should meet at the central intersection, near the Palace of Culture.

"Human rights are ours, executioner to the fascists", reads one of the many banners.

"I'm here to do something for me and my daughter, they take away our rights!"

a woman in the march told reporters.

Massive police forces following the mobilization. In Old Town Square, a far-right group attempted to clash with protesters, but the rioters were isolated. Shortly before the start of the protest, news arrived of an initiative by President Andrzej Duda, who is now proposing a new law that would allow abortion in cases of lethal pathologies of the fetus, while the ban on other embryonic malformations would remain. The proposal has for now been rejected by the square. It manifests itself at the same time also in Szczecin, Lublin and Kielce.
