The massification of tests carried out during the summer made it possible to detect more cases in the territory. In some towns p

In Saint-Maurice la Souterraine (Creuse), since the beginning of October, we have been testing ourselves, and more and more, but still no case detected positive for Covid-19 among a little over a thousand inhabitants.

At least ten of them have been tested every week since then.

Always negative.

Covid-19: the delicate estimate of the real number of new cases

Evelyne Augros, new mayor of the town, confirms: “We have had three positive cases in the town, but nothing since the beginning of October.

So why is the population testing itself so much?

The mayor puts forward several hypotheses: “When I arrived at town hall, I set up a Facebook page where we encourage vigilance, as well as respect for barrier gestures.

It also announces any cases in the town.

People are sensitive to it.

And our football team was in contact;

Covid-19: the rebound of the epidemic seen from the "white areas"

If all the local players tested negative for Covid-19, the information of their contact case situation quickly spread and could encourage the population to be tested more.

Especially since 28% of the population is over 60 years old.

40 municipalities without cases since October

In addition to the village of Creuse, 39 other cities of more than a thousand inhabitants, mainly in the departments where the epidemic has circulated rather little, can be proud of not having identified any cases since the beginning of October, despite tests numerous.

This is the case for five municipalities in Manche, five others in Finistère, and five in Charente-Maritime.

What appears behind this map of the municipalities which "overtest" are territories subject to the same test protocols as the metropolis of Aix-Marseille or Ile-de-France, but with a circulation of the virus which, in all case until then was much less important.

Two exceptions, however, which enjoy almost zero positivity in departments that experience a very high incidence: Saint-Laurent-de-Cerdans in the Pyrénées-Orientales and Joyeuse in Ardèche.
