Sad news: Cinema legend Sir Sean Connery died today (Saturday) at the age of 90.
The Scottish actor best known for portraying the role of James Bond in no less than seven films in the series, was the first to play the character of the undercover agent on the big screen.
Connery's playing career lasted for decades until 2006, when he announced his retirement.
During his extensive career, the beloved actor has won the Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards and two Bafta Awards.
In addition, Connery starred in the films: Indiana Jones, The Rock, The Last Crusade and The Hunt for Red October.
In 2000 Connery received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth at a ceremony held at Holyrood Palace.
Last August, Connery celebrated his 90th birthday.
