Three years after the #MeToo affair, an investigation by the Swiss media

Le Temps

has shaken a new media icon.

This Saturday, October 31, an article in the daily shed light on sexist and disturbing behavior within RTS, the Swiss Radio Television.

After several months of research, the three authors of the survey denounce "

behavior which is at least problematic on the part of several employees of the public service

".

These actions took place "

from the beginning of the 2000s

" and some were known by the RTS teams, add the journalists.

Among the examples spotted by the authors is “

Robert

”, an executive still in post and accused, between 2005 and 2015, of numerous reprehensible acts by “

about fifteen public service employees

”.

Sexual harassment, suggestive SMS, sending "

vicious

"

letters

... The actions of this manager lead to a degradation of the working environment, cause employee burn-out and he ends up being dismissed by his management in a "

golden cupboard.

", After an employee claims to have"

collected all the evidence (letters, SMS) of harassment over more than a year from Robert against him and asks for actions

. "

The most striking case, however, concerns a "

star

" of the small Swiss screen, Darius Rochebin.

The journalist, former presenter of the RTS television news and now on LCI is suspected of “

inadequate

behavior

, including “

hands slipped under the shirts of male colleagues, recurring salacious allusions or even proximity to young men

”.

A collaborator who passed him in a hallway said: “

Suddenly, he took my face in his hands and tried to kiss me.

I immediately pushed him away.

He stealthily left, without looking at me or apologizing

”.

Another remembers a moment shortly after the New Year's Eve 2006: “

He came up to me, I took him by the shoulder to give him a kiss, he grabbed my free hand and held it up. firmly placed on his genitals

”.

The presenter is also accused of using his influence to meet students in their twenties, with whom he has ambiguous relations.

He also allegedly created fake profiles of young women on Facebook to “

get in touch with young men

”.

He would have used these profiles to "

obtain information on their private life and orchestrate meetings

," reveals

Le Temps

.

The conversations could also take another turn: "

Under the guise of [these false accounts], the presenter even seeks to lead his interlocutors into the field of insulting criticism towards himself

", adds the investigation.

Affected by these accusations, Darius Rochebin responded to journalists through his lawyer, denying "

firmly to have engaged in criminally reprehensible acts

".

The journalist adds that he "has

never been the subject of a criminal complaint, nor a fortiori of any criminal conviction

".

He is currently the presenter of a program on LCI,

Le 20h de Darius Rochebin

, broadcast from Monday to Thursday between 8:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m.

The management of RTS, for its part, assures us to be "

dismayed by the seriousness and the extent of the alleged facts.

If these facts are true, the RTS condemns them with the greatest firmness.

"She adds:"

The RTS firmly rejects any accusation of laxity in the management of cases of harassment or protection of its employees.

Cases brought to the attention of management are always handled diligently and professionally, including the use of external investigations.

"

Regarding Darius Rochebin, management indicates that it was only informed of “

false profiles

”.

"

We will verify all the information in this article, review its internal processes and take all necessary measures to improve them if necessary

", adds our source, defending the tools put in place within the company to "

release the word (...) and report any problematic cases

”.

Several editorial staff have worked in recent years on the failings of the RTS institution on similar cases, without however succeeding. If we succeed today, it is at the cost of hard work and meticulous collection of facts,

”explains Le Temps in a scathing editorial. The daily, which defends its “

three courageous journalists

”, judges that their investigation has a “

public interest

”: “

everything has been done to put unacceptable behavior under cover

” within RTS, and journalist Darius Rochebin, one former leading figures of the group, has "

not lived up to

" its reputation as "a

model for the profession and the general public

."
