Mario Pereyra
, radio icon and director of Cadena 3 de Córdoba, died at dawn this Sunday after having been hospitalized for coronavirus for almost two weeks.
He was 77 years old.
According to Cadena 3, the host of the
"Juntos" program
was under the supervision of the Instituto Modelo de Cardiología of the city of Córdoba, but his condition became complicated in the last hours.
"Rest in peace, dear Mario Pereyra, forever friend. We bid you farewell to the 40 million that we felt part of #Juntos, your program that you did everyone's," wrote the
Cadena 3
account
on Instagram.
"We will continue to be in honor of Mario, the radio committed to freedom and the Republic. The radio that accompanies everyone, the radio of the people," added the message.
The media reported that
his remains will be cremated in an intimate ceremony
and that there will be no wake.
Meanwhile,
his wife, Estela, is still
hospitalized at the Instituto Modelo de Cardiología as a result of Covid-19.
Mario Pereyra was born on July 20, 1943 in San Juan and was distinguished with a Konex Award in 2017. He began working at an early age at Radio Colón and then continued at Radio Sarmiento (San Juan) and Radio de Cuyo (Mendoza), until disembark in the city of Córdoba.
Shrewd, direct and critical of Kirchnerism, there he became an icon of Cadena 3, where from the 90s he assumed the artistic direction.
