A 17-year-old from a Hasidic court in Ashdod was transferred today (Monday) from Assuta Hospital in his hometown to Schneider Hospital in his hometown, following a significant deterioration in his condition after falling ill in Corona.

It was transferred for connection to an Akmo machine.

A medical possibility is being investigated that this is a complication that causes PIMS syndrome.

The boy was previously hospitalized after falling ill in Corona and his condition was defined as mild.

He was released at the end of treatment and appeared to be recovering, but was rushed to the hospital again last night after, according to his family, the symptoms did not really go away and his condition began to deteriorate.

He was hospitalized in the intensive care unit, where he was anesthetized and resuscitated.

As mentioned, the medical assessment is that the boy suffers from symptoms of PIMS syndrome, which has affected dozens of children and teenagers from the country in recent weeks and thousands around the world.

In all cases, these are children or adolescents who contracted corona relatively easily and recovered, but after a few weeks their condition began to deteriorate.

It is a syndrome that affects systems in the body.

At first it manifests itself in high fever, abdominal pain, the appearance of a rash on the skin and a disturbance in the function of vital organs.

Later, among other things, but not always, heart damage is evident.

It affects the body about a month after recovery.

Doctors describe it as an immunological storm, and treat it mainly with a biological drug.

The 17-year-old from Ashdod is the youngest in the country who has so far needed the help of a heart-lung device.

During the first wave, Afik Suissa, 22, from Ashdod, joined Lakmo in Ichilov and recovered a few weeks later.

Last June, the death of a 19-year-old girl from East Jerusalem was reported at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

The Acmo device was also used to treat it.

It should be noted that corona complications in children are very rare: about a week and a half ago, a report was published by the Ministry of Health on childhood morbidity, which showed that the vast majority of children diagnosed with corona had mild symptoms.

Since the outbreak in Israel, 494 children have been hospitalized for contracting the virus (less than one percent of all children diagnosed), 28 of them were in critical condition, 31 in moderate and the rest mild (194 of those hospitalized were infants up to 2 years old, hospitalized due to hospitalization policy). .
