The Greek Prime Minister announced today (Monday) a stricter closure in the Thessaloniki area and in the north of the country - the closure will start tomorrow starting at 6:00 AM.
As part of the decision, airports in the area will be completely closed and flights to and from Thessaloniki will not be allowed.

Due to this, the Israeli airlines that were supposed to fly to the destination canceled their flights, and at the same time several hundred Israelis who were supposed to return will not be able to do so through the flights booked in advance.
Various airlines will allow Israelis to purchase flights back to Israel via Athens, which they will reach by vehicles, and at the same time efforts are being made to allow special rescue flights from Israel to Thessaloniki, with Blue Bird and Israir among the airlines operating flights to return Israelis.
Among the Israelis who got stuck in Greece is a family who came to celebrate a wedding in the Thessaloniki area and, as mentioned, hundreds of other Israelis who came to vacation in the country.
In a conversation with a rabbi in the community, he says, "There are hundreds here, several full planes have landed here in recent days and we hope we find a solution. We are in contact with the Foreign Ministry and other parties to try to help them and hope everyone can return home safely."
Apart from Rwanda which is considered the least popular among Israeli tourists, Greece is currently the only country currently defined as green by the authorities and receives tourists from Israel.
Following the rise in morbidity, there may be a change in Greece's definition as early as next week, when Ministry of Health, Foreign Affairs and Transport staff will discuss the issue on 9 November.
If the morbidity rate in Greece improves in the coming days, it is possible that it will continue to be defined as green.
