In Berlin, a dispute apparently escalated on a railroad track on Monday evening: In the Neu-Hohenschönhausen district, a 30-year-old is said to have pushed a man of the same age in front of an approaching tram, according to the police.
Accordingly, the suspect initially insulted the man because of personal differences and shortly thereafter pushed him onto the rails.
According to the police, the tram driver was able to initiate an emergency braking in good time.
The train had come to a standstill just a few meters in front of the man lying on the track bed.
Witnesses reported that the alleged perpetrator subsequently attacked his victim.
Among other things, he is said to have hit his head against the cab of the tram.
When passers-by alerted the police, he fled the scene.
According to the police, the man suffered head injuries and was cared for by rescue workers on site.
The officers are now investigating because of dangerous bodily harm and property damage.
