While the executive has not ruled out possible new restrictions, the coronavirus epidemic continues to gallop in France, with at least 40,558 cases in the past 24 hours, according to data released daily by the government and Public Health France (SPF).
There could be more, but difficulties arose in reporting test results.
The number of deaths is still around 400, with 394 people dead in 24 hours, after a sad record on Tuesday of 430. In total, 38,674 people have died of this disease since the start of the epidemic in France, including 26 595 in a hospital environment.
An essential indicator of the pressure on the hospital system, which confinement aims to limit, the number of patients in intensive care was 4,080, with 540 new serious cases, for 6,400 beds currently available (but also for other pathologies).
Health authorities have identified 27,511 hospitalized patients with the coronavirus, including 3,681 new arrivals in 24 hours.
