French justice refuses to hand over to Italy the no-global militant black bloc Vincenzo Vecchi, who fled to Brittany after his sentence linked to the clashes that broke out during the 2001 G8 in Genoa: this is what the French press says.
The Angers court of appeal ordered an "investigation supplement" in view of the possibility that Vecchi would have to serve the last part of the sentence for the main sentence suffered in Italy after the riots on the sidelines of the G8 in Genoa. The magistrates refused that this remaining portion of the sentence - 10 years for 'devastation and plunder' - be served in France, since the offense has no equivalent in the French code. The court will decide, in a further hearing, whether Vecchi will have to serve another sentence of one year and two months in France or in Italy.
