There is still no vaccine, no treatment, and no definitive solution to end the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the mere mention of a massive vaccination generated contradictions and crosses between the national and Buenos Aires authorities, as well as between the same population.
Mandatory or voluntary, that seems to be the question.
The debate was activated on Monday, when President Alberto Fernández announced the purchase of 25 million doses of Russian Sputnik V vaccines between December and January.
In the midst of the "celebration" for the news, which could spell the end of the nightmare, doubts also arose about its effectiveness, as well as its obligatory nature.
The Secretary of Access to Health,
Carla Vizzotti
, Ginés González García's right-hand man in the management of the pandemic, responded that "no vaccine that does not meet the requirements will be applied" and assured that it will be "mandatory and free" by law.
"Argentina has a legal framework, the vaccination law, which says that it is free because it is a sign of equity and because the national State provides vaccines for the population to access. And it
is mandatory because it is a social good that is for on individual benefit
. If I decide not to get vaccinated, not only can I get sick, but I can spread the disease, "explained the official, in statements to
FM Futurock
.
Carla Vizzotti, a regular person in charge of the coronavirus report, said the vaccine will be "mandatory."
"When one says that it is mandatory, perhaps it sounds a little aggressive or violent ...
There are people who have some doubt about what they hear, some uncertainty and may feel threatened
, that is why our path is information, building trust and that population adhere, "he added in this regard.
Lisandro Bonelli, Chief of Staff of the National Health Ministry, endorsed this theory in dialogue with
Radio Nacional
.
"It will be mandatory and free for the entire population
," said the official, although he clarified that they will start with risk groups.
The position of the province of Buenos Aires
However, from the Province of Buenos Aires they expressed another position and referred to vaccination as "voluntary and with consent" of the population.
"It will be a voluntary vaccination and under consent. I say this because there were expressions of people who do not want to be vaccinated, in general with a little fantastic arguments. To leave everyone alone, here there will be no compulsive vaccination," he said this Wednesday the Buenos Aires Chief of Cabinet, Carlos Bianco, in dialogue with radio
La Red
.
Buenos Aires Minister of Health, Daniel Gollan, agreed with Bianco and asked that "they
take out this lie that it will be mandatory
."
"They install false news all day. The vaccine will always be voluntary and with written informed consent," he slipped.
Minister Daniel Gollan spoke of a voluntary immunization.

The controversy arises from the refusal of a sector of the population to be vaccinated, either due to distrust in the efficacy of the vaccine or due to other ideological issues.
Anyway, and beyond the contradictions, the Government advances in the purchase of immunization against Covid-19.
Almost eight months after the first positive case was registered in Argentina, the Government reported that it will purchase
25 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine
between December and January.
Thus, 12.5 million people can be vaccinated, since immunization requires two applications for each patient.
But the Government is also negotiating with other laboratories - from other countries - to add vaccines over the next year.
In all cases,
its application will be effective first in the risk groups
, which constitute almost 25% of the population.
"Health personnel are always first, who are the most exposed. Then it will be strategic personnel, which would be security, armed forces and firefighters, who will work hard on logistics. The group that has 82% of the the deceased, who are those over 70 years of age, and then people between 18 and 69 who have risky conditions, "said Vizzotti.
