(ANSA) - GUATEMALA CITY, NOV 6 - Landslides caused by Hurricane Eta, now downgraded to a tropical depression, have caused more than 50 deaths in indigenous villages in northwestern Guatemala.
This was announced last night by President AlejandroGiammattei at a press conference in Puerto Barrios, a north-western city hit by floods.
The National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (Conred) of Guatemala reported yesterday morning that four people including two children had died in the country due to landslides caused by rains brought by Eta.
"Now, however, the number of victims is over 50", Giammattei said last night.
