After a long interrogation, often interrupted by crying fits, the 17-year-old girl who threw the child she had just given birth from the window of her home was arrested on charges of voluntary murder.
The minor is still hospitalized in the gynecology department of the Sant'Antonino Abbot hospital in Trapani where she was taken for investigations.
The police are also evaluating the positions of the girl's mother and the domestic worker who were in the house at the time of the events.
The two women claimed that they did not notice the birth and death of the newborn.
The newborn was
found in Trapani
, inside a plastic bag in the atrium of a condominium courtyard in via Francesco De Stefano.
The minor, who is of robust build, would have managed to hide the pregnancy from her parents, who reported that they had not noticed anything.
The young woman, immediately after giving birth, would wrap the baby in a plastic bag and
then throw it out the window
.
The investigation will now be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office of the Palermo Juvenile Court.
Yesterday in Ragusa another newborn
still alive
was found by chance
in a waste container
by a passer-by .
Its conditions are good.
A passer-by had heard an indistinct moan coming from a garbage container, had thought of the presence of a puppy and had opened the bucket making the discovery.
Inside, on top of the rubbish, was the baby, wrapped in a blanket and stuffed into a bag.
