Despite "an increase in hospitalizations and resuscitations in the coming days", Olivier Véran mentioned this Sunday morning "a form of slowing down" in the progression of the Covid-19.

And the figures given by the government in the evening confirm the words of the Minister of Health.

Some 38,619 SARS-CoV-2 contaminations have been recorded in the last 24 hours, while the number of new cases has fluctuated between 40,000 and 60,000 in recent days.

This report also seems to attest that the computer bug that had led to the catching up of tens of thousands of positive tests this week - until reaching a skewed record of 86,852 new cases in 24 hours between Friday and Saturday - is now resolved.

Authorities recorded 270 additional deaths from Covid-19 on Sunday evening, compared to 306 on Saturday.

In total, 40,439 people have died from Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic in France, including 27,930 in hospitals.

More than 4,500 patients in intensive care

The number of patients in intensive care stood at 4,539 this Sunday, for 6,400 beds currently available (but also for other pathologies).

Some 323 serious cases were admitted to these services in 24 hours.

They were 394 the day before.

"There will be an increase in hospitalizations and resuscitations in the coming days since it is a reflection of the epidemic situation before confinement", warned Olivier Véran on Sunday morning.

Hospitals count 1,814 new entries linked to Covid-19 in 24 hours.

In total, more than 30,000 patients (30,243) are currently hospitalized in France for a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
