Horrifying pictures show why it is mandatory to lower the toilet lid when draining water

Experts warn that flushing the toilet with an open lid can throw dangerous water droplets full of bacteria up to a meter and a half high, and land on surfaces in your bathroom and even on your skin (yes. You can also stick to the corona like this)

Studies have found that more than half of us do not close the toilet lid when we flush the water - but a series of disturbing pictures vacation why we must do it.

To highlight the dangers, the Rafik company that makes cleaning and hygiene products has used special high-speed photo technology to show that flushing the toilet without closing the lid can flip droplets containing bacteria and viruses onto surfaces in your bathroom up to a meter and a half from the toilet.

What in the pictures look like colored fireworks are actually aerosol drops (particles that float in the air and serve as a condensate nucleus for water vapor) that launch themselves out of the toilet - to a distance and height that may even reach your face as you bend towards the water drop handle.

Experts at Harfik say toilet water toilets may remain contaminated even after several flushes after being exposed to harmful pathogens.

If you unknowingly touch a surface that is contaminated by flushing water down the toilet, Harfik claims that you can get the disease if you touch your nose or mouth.

A new study has found that it is not only fecal viruses that we need to beware of - but also the corona virus that can appear in human feces and easily find itself on the next person to use the toilet.

The lowering of the water may spread the virus through "particle clouds" that fly into the air at each flush, survive for a long time and reach - you will not believe - up to a meter and a half above the toilet.

Yes, in case you missed it, every time you flush water without lowering the toilet lid, you are breathing tiny fecal particles.

Your Wellcome.

Few studies have focused on lowering water as a way to spread the corona virus and the general public is largely unaware of the risks.

According to data published in the journal Physics of Fluids, the researchers simulated what happens when the water is flushed down the toilet with an "accurate" technological model based on complex dynamic formulas called Navia-Stokes equations (equations describing the movement of a liquid or gas).

Two types of toilets were tested - one with a single fill valve and the other with two, creating a stronger "rotating flow" of water.

They then applied the so-called "discrete phase model" (flow) to simulate the movement of tiny droplets, which could be ejected from the toilet into the air.

The discrete phase model sounds familiar to you, right?

(Not really).

This is because it is the same model that has often been used to illustrate the release of infectious drops from human cough.

A study conducted among 2,000 people found that the main reason for not closing the toilet lid when lowering the water is a lack of awareness of the risks involved, then the reasons are fear of touching the lid and general forgetfulness.

After being shown evidence of the risks of keeping the lid open, 95 percent of participants said they would now change their legs.

"Harfik" calls on people to always close the lid when draining water, wear gloves when cleaning the bath and use toilet detergent that also removes scale, as it can also contain bacteria.

The company said: "There has never been a more important time to take extra care in our homes. Although the risks involved in spreading bacteria in unhygienic bathrooms are high, the solution to keeping them clean is simple - just make simple changes to our cleaning routine that can have long-term health benefits."
