(ANSA) - BUENOS AIRES, 09 NOV - The former Bolivian president EvoMorales returned to Bolivia today after a year of exile spent first in Mexico and then in Argentina.
The former chieftain crossed the border from the Argentine city of LaQuiaca and arrived in the Bolivian town of Villazon, where he was welcomed by a crowd of militants from his Party for Socialism (Mas) and social movements.
Along with Morales, his former vice president Alvaro Garcia Linera has also returned home.
Before crossing the border, Morales thanked the Argentine people and in particular President Alberto Fernandez: "He saved my life", said the former Bolivian president, who also thanked the Mexican people, emphasizing that "capitalism and imperialism exist" and that "the struggle will continue".
In his greeting, Fernandez stated that on this occasion "we ensure that our dear comrade and brother Evo Morales returns to his homeland, which he should never have abandoned, and should not have been mistreated as he has been done". (HANDLE).
