(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 09 - Rome gave the last farewell to Stefano D'Orazio, historic drummer and lyricist of Pooh, who passed away on Friday evening at the age of 72, due to complications from covid-19.

A dutiful homage first in the Campidoglio, from where the coffin left to cross the streets of the city center, escorted by motorcyclists from the local police of Roma Capitale - as already happened only a few days ago for Gigi Proietti - and to arrive in the Church of the Artists, in Piazza del Popolo in Rome, where the funeral was held at 3 pm.

A private celebration, in compliance with the anti-Covid legislation, which however did not prevent many fans of the band from paying homage to the musician with applause, albeit from a distance.

There was much emotion among those present, among which there were no shortage of well-known faces.

The companions of a life - visibly tried - Roby Facchinetti arrived, who during the funeral read the prayers of the artists for Stefano, Dodi Battaglia, Red Canzian and Riccardo Fogli, accompanied by their respective wives.

There were also Lorella Cuccarini with her husband SilvioTesti, Giampiero Ingrassia, Fausto Brizzi, Roberto Ciufoli, the master Gianni Mazza, Marino Bartoletti, Fio Zanotti.

And still her sister and friend Bobo Craxi, the first to give the news of the artist's death on social media.

D'Orazio's wife, Tiziana Giardoni, thanked those present and above all Stefano: "You have always been my strength, next to you I have become a better person".

Every morning - she recalled movedly -, "I didn't miss a smile. I loved him so much".

Also present was Silvia Di Stefano, whom D'Orazio has always considered as a daughter.

During the celebration, outside the Church, the many who met in Piazza del Popolo continued to sing the songs of the Poohs and to applaud.
