From 2021, also in Italy, the Just Eat riders will be hired with an employee contract with hourly wages and all the protections ensured by an employment relationship.
Just Eat, part of Just Eat Takeaway.com, will introduce 'Scoober' from next year.
This is the delivery model already active in some of the countries of the group that frames the riders as employees, allowing them to have more advantages and protections and retaining the flexibility and the ability to operate by combining study and other activities.
"In fact, we believe that, after the progress already made in recent months, the time has come to continue with our commitment to providing safeguards and protections to workers in the gig economy", underlines Daniele Contini, Country Manager of Just Eat in Italy.
'Scoober' will allow flexibility in relation to the contract and provides for an hourly wage, therefore corresponding to the shift covered by the rider and not linked to the individual deliveries, on which an additional bonus will instead be assessed.
In smaller towns, riders will be able to operate with their own vehicles and a full supply of safety devices.
In the larger cities, real hubs will be set up to cover the heart of the city, where riders will be able to collect and use, for their shift, only totally sustainable vehicles such as electric scooters or Just Eat e-bikes, delivery tools such as helmet, jacket and backpack.
They will be joined by riders who operate with their own vehicles, especially in areas outside the center and with the possibility of choosing when applying for employment.
