During the corona lockdown in Germany, many get the idea to clear things out.

However, you should currently consider a trip to the recycling center.

What's the best way to spend the time in lockdown?

Although many shops are still open in Germany - unlike in spring - leisure activities are rather unspectacular due to the closed restaurants or hotels.

Many seem to have the same idea - namely to finally clear out properly *.

The Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU) is now warning of this.

Large crowds in recycling centers in the corona lockdown: rather postpone clearing out

On November 2nd, the Munich Waste Management Company (AWM) wrote on Twitter: “Today there is a huge rush at the recycling centers.

Please only come if there is an

urgent need for disposal

that cannot be

postponed

.

Otherwise, please switch to another day, preferably in the morning. ”Shortly before the lockdown, many Munich residents seemed to have feared that the recycling centers would also be affected by the closings.

"I can give the all-clear: we will remain open despite the lockdown!" Said the AWM press spokeswoman in an interview with tz.de *.

Big crowds at the recycling centers

Today there is a very big crowd at the recycling centers.

Please only come if there is an urgent need for disposal that cannot be postponed.

But not only in Bavaria, but also in Lower Saxony at the Hannover-Lahe recycling center, there was a huge rush, as an NDR report shows.

The

number of visitors

there

has increased noticeably

since Corona

- the line in front of the recycling center is always the longest, especially around 11 a.m.

Many of them dump their garden waste as the lockdown means that they now have more time to care for their home green.

However, whether a recycling center is overcrowded varies from region to region.

The Association of Municipal Companies also pointed this out in an interview with myHomebook: While normal operation prevails at some recycling centers, the number of visitors is bursting at the seams in other places.

Some of them therefore already request delivery by appointment.

According to myHomebook, the VKU asks for patience: "As understandable as it is to use the lockdown time for clearing out and perhaps symbolically close a corona year that is difficult for all of us, we ask you to check, as we did in spring,

whether a 'big clearing out' has to be at this point in time

or whether there is the possibility of postponing it to a later point in time - especially if your local waste management company asks for it in view of the large number of visitors to its recycling depots The best thing to do is to find out how big the crowd is at your recycling center before you load the junk into the car.
