Charles Spencer, Princess Diana's younger brother, shared a rarely-seen childhood photo of the two on Twitter more than 20 years after his sister's death.

In the photograph, the future Princess of Wales is wearing a pink and white striped dress and has her arm around her brother.

The 9th Earl Spencer posted the picture, which according to the Daily Mail was from the summer of 1967, without comment.

Many Twitter users thanked Spencer for the picture and expressed their sympathy for Princess Diana.

As one admirer wrote, "Her legacy and influence remain and grow even stronger and stronger over the years. It is incredible how much she is still loved. She showed the way and is sorely missed by charities."

Several other comments expressed the positive influence that Princess Diana had had.

Prince Charles and Diana were married on July 29, 1981 in Buckingham Palace, London.

In 1996 the couple divorced.

On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris.
