Around 7:30 am, this Monday morning, in front of the Mireille Grenet high school in Compiègne (Oise), dozens of hooded young people set fire to bins in front of the school establishment and attacked a patrolling police car.
The crew, targeted by mortar fire, had to quickly abandon the vehicle.
These same individuals then began to pound the police car, loot it and even attempt to overturn it.
Many videos relayed on social networks show the outburst of violence which took place for several minutes, before the intervention of the police.
Sarah, a high school student, arrived on site shortly before eight o'clock testifies.
“There was smoke everywhere, from the garbage cans burning in front of my high school entrance gate.
I saw young people wreck a police car that was parked next to it.
Fortunately there was no policeman inside.
They broke everything, some stole bulletproof vests and they tried to overturn it, ”says the young high school student, still in shock.
At around 8:10 am, reinforcements from the police station intervened to disperse the crowd and proceeded to four arrests.
In these incidents, a firefighter was also slightly injured in the forearm by mortar fire while trying to put out a burning garbage can.
