When Gladys Vargas (37) arrived at her home in Lomas de Zamora, along with her sister Patricia (38), her ex was waiting for her at the door.
What happened next was crazy: he insulted her, beat her, threw her on the bed, doused her with alcohol on her chest and face,
set her on fire and left
.
Gladys survived the attack because
her sister helped her
and this Tuesday she was recovering at the Gandulfo hospital.
But the woman was also key to the arrest of Norberto Ariel Amarilla (37), in another sad case of gender violence.
Accused for the attempted femicide of the mother of his 14-year-old daughter, he refused to testify before the prosecutor Fabiola Juanatey, from UFI No. 2 specialized in gender violence issues in Lomas de Zamora.
Norberto Ariel Amarilla, 37, arrested for the attempted femicide of his former partner in Lomas de Zamora.
Gladys, despite the severity of the burns, was also able to tell the prosecutor in the case what happened on Monday morning, according to
Clarín
from sources in the investigation.
On Sunday night, Gladys and her sister had gone to a friend's house.
It was already dawn when they decided to return.
Upon arriving at his house in Miguel de Unamuno at 1800, in Villa Fiorito, Amarilla was waiting for Gladys.
In front of Patricia he rebuked her, insulted her and reproached her for having left their teenage daughter alone.
Once at the house, and with Patricia not moving from there, he began to beat her.
"They went to the room and he grabbed a
bottle of alcohol
, threw it at him and set it on fire. And he left," the sources detailed.
At the screams, Patricia entered and found her sister with her chest and face on fire.
He helped her as best he could, they transferred her to the Prompt Attention Unit (UPA) which is 10 blocks from Gladys's house and, from there, to the Gandulfo de Lomas de Zamora hospital.
Gladys was hospitalized in serious condition, with grade 2 burns to
30 percent of her body
and her airways compromised.
"Fortunately, this Tuesday it was known that the woman is
evolving well
and was able to testify before the prosecutor to tell about everything that had happened," said the sources about Gladys' state of health.
Arrested
Amarilla's arrest is a separate chapter in history.
Police sources reported that while the agents of the Villa Fiorito 5 ° police station were interviewing Patricia and she denounced what happened, she noticed that her ex-brother-
in-
law was
passing by in a truck
with which he works as a laborer.
The police then reached the truck and detained the suspect at the intersection of José Luis Murature and Recondo, just around the corner from the police station and a dozen blocks from where he had set his ex on fire.
Amarilla is accused of "attempted homicide aggravated by the relationship and in the context of gender violence."
