In the second corona lockdown, hamster purchases are again noticeable - especially with toilet paper.
Transport Minister Scheuer spoke of a toilet paper guarantee.
Certain
housewares
are
increasingly in demand
even in the second
lockdown
- and in some places customers are faced with empty shelves.
In October, Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer announced that there would be enough
toilet paper
.
Meanwhile, supermarkets and discounters respond to the
hamster purchases
with limited taxes.
Munich - The hoarding is going on again.
As at the beginning of the year, during the first
lockdown
due to the corona pandemic, certain items in the “lockdown light” are now
becoming
scarce
nationwide in
supermarkets
.
Above all
there is a lack of
toilet paper
here and there - and kitchen rolls are also in great demand.
Here was
Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer
(CSU) in October in an interview with
Bild newspaper
, yet it later in the
corona crisis
will give enough toilet paper - a
"toilet paper" guarantee
.
Federal
Minister of
Agriculture
Julia Klöckner
(CDU) also spoke to the
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ)
in October
and appealed to consumers: "There is no reason to buy hamsters, the
supply chains
work - that still applies."
But the
reality is
different.
Some discounters and supermarkets have already reacted and
only
sell certain
products
in
commercial quantities
.
Lidl Germany appealed to its customers with a humorous but serious Instagram post: “Hamsters have to stay outside.” And its discounter competitor Aldi also reacted to the
panic buying
.

Against the background of the current situation 🙃 we are unfortunately forced to adjust our door policy a little.
😂 Our goal is to be there for everyone equally 😍 and we can only do that if everyone thinks of their fellow human beings ✌️ and not just of themselves.
👍 When you next visit your Lidl store, please remember to only buy what you really need.
We're not running away from you.

The
supermarket chain
Rewe also responded to the hamster purchases and responded to a
picture
request: "We
only
dispense
food
and hygiene items in standard quantities." Edeka limits the dispensing if
necessary
, it says.
So no "guarantee" after all?
The
government
is currently
divided
on the "toilet paper" guarantee
.
As the
picture
reports, the CDU politician and
health
minister
Jens Spahn is
now
rowing
back.
In an interview with the
Bild
newspaper, he said: "I think there is now no
basic right
to kitchen rolls."
