"Sportschau" presenter Jessy Wellmer didn't necessarily want to be on television in earlier years.
"It was a long process. I used to be rather shy and the idea of standing in front of a camera was completely alien to me," said Wellmer in an interview published in the "Schweriner Volkszeitung".
The 40-year-old said she was able to develop security and self-confidence in many hours of broadcasting in the "ZDF morning magazine".
"I've chatted freely over the years. Humor and spontaneity can also help."
According to the broadcaster, Wellmer is the second woman after Monica Lierhaus to present the ARD "Sportschau" on Saturday evening.
On Tuesday evening, she and Eva-Maria Lemke will be hosting the talk show "Here speaks Berlin" (10:50 pm, Das Erste).
