A middle-class family in a middle-class district of Berlin.
The mother opens the mailbox and holds a letter from the Berlin police headquarters in her hands, it says "Summons from children".
Her six-year-old son is summoned.
There is talk of an "oral hearing", there is no reason.
Only the sentence is marked with a light pen: "If an interpreter is required for the interrogation, we ask that you notify us in good time."
The family is German but has Arabic names.
The mother is shocked.
"You lose faith in the rule of law," she says later.
"I only know access to children from unjust states."
The second sheet in the letter doesn't make it any better.
It is a "leaflet for young suspects" and refers to young people from the age of 14, there is no mention of six-year-olds.
Suspected discrimination
The mother is a lawyer and knows that in Germany you are only 14 years of age.
She takes a lawyer who applies to the public prosecutor to inspect the files.
Then the mother learns that it was the elementary school that reported her son: Because of "bodily harm to the wrist", it says in the file, "slightly injured, no treatment".
It is the teacher's wrist.
