The sequence was filmed by one of the many people who was at a YPF service station at that time.

The young man was holding his ex-girlfriend hostage, threatening her with a machete, while almost a dozen policemen tried to calm him down.

The troops managed to persuade him and finally, in an oversight, they arrested him, but the aggressor was only detained for less than 24 hours.

This was decided by the guarantee judge Julián Busteros, who

considered that it was the crime of threats

.

The prosecution, in charge of Mariana Dongiovanni, had requested the arrest arguing that it was an

illegal deprivation of liberty aggravated

The

incident occurred at a YPF service station

located on Eva Perón Avenue and 1404 Street. The police arrived at the scene after a call that indicated that there was a hostage-taking.

hostage

with a machete with a blade approximately 50 centimeters long.

The young man was nervous at times, so he did not obey the orders of the troops to put down his attitude.

After a long time of dialogue, the policemen managed to get closer to Veliz, until at one point he was distracted and took the opportunity to pounce, free the woman, take away the weapon and reduce him.

The 50-centimeter machete with a black plastic handle was seized as evidence for the judicial file.

In the last ten years in Argentina there is an average of one femicide every 30 hours.

According to statistics from the Office of Domestic Violence of the Supreme Court, in 2018 alone there were 278. Most of the murders occur in the homes of the victims and are committed by partners or exes.
