(ANSA) - TRENTO - According to the updates of the Assomela Marketing Committee, as of November 1, national production should be around 2.1 million tons.
The comparison with the main producers confirms a decidedly below average production for the Golden Delicious and a record for both the Gala and the new varieties.
In the case of the Gala group, attention must be paid to the pace of new plants, which could bring this variety close to market saturation;
in the case of the group of new "club" apples, the trend - reports a note from Assomela - is still judged positive and confirms the attention of consumers towards new variety proposals.
Frosts, hail and the aggressiveness of the Asian bug, impacted less than expected and only on restricted areas and the climate: for these reasons the volume of goods destined for the fresh market will be slightly higher than expected, reaching just over 1 , 8 million tons, a value in any case far below the average of the last few seasons.
As for organic production, Italy heralds a new production record with more than 185,000 tons, that is almost 9% of the total production.
From a commercial point of view, it also recorded good performances in the first days of November, a month that tended to be quite calm from a sales point of view.
The de-cumulation plans have already been set up and sales are proceeding regularly in Italy, in the EU and also in non-European destinations, starting more slowly both due to the uncertainty linked to the Covid emergency and because there are still goods available from Southern Hemisphere.
As far as the Community framework is concerned, the production level is for now confirmed at around 10.7 million tons, with a significant decrease in French and Spanish production.
