The impressive scene illustrates the lack of resources of hospitals in the face of the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
At Cotugno Hospital in Naples, patients waiting for a place in the hospital are treated even before entering the premises.
"We are doing the impossible by helping the sick inside cars and ambulances, the staff are making superhuman efforts, but we are at the limit," said Maurizio Di Mauro, director general of the hospital, to the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano.
Italy is facing a rapid increase in the number of people infected with Covid-19. With 35,098 new cases Tuesday, against 25,271 the day before.
