Six soldiers left Verdun to arrive five days later in Paris, on the eve of the November 11 commemorations.
An incredible 360 km relay race, to retrace the route taken by the coffin of the Unknown Soldier, which has rested for a hundred years under the Arc de Triomphe.
While the coffin had made the journey by train, the soldiers made it running and in combat gear, carrying a flame that they passed during relays, some of which were symbolic such as the Pantheon or the Invalides in Paris.
"The objective is to commemorate all the generations of soldiers who gave their lives for France, those of 14/18, then 39/45, those of the wars of decolonization, and also that of the dead of the year" explains the Colonel de Brebison, torch relay organizer.
Unfortunately in this particular health context, the ceremonies of November 11 took place behind closed doors and the runners could not meet the Parisians, nor have a lot of applause in their path.
