In her new series, the immortal soap opera "Neighbors Neighbors" proves that even good people can hide secrets and suspense dramas can be telenovelas in disguise

Australia is known on television as one of the largest producers of telenovelas in the world.
It is a very successful genre on the big continent and it seems that since the late 80s, when local soap operas began to appear, and to this day, there is always a demand for telenovelas.
It's a bit like "Life Itself", but with a lot of twists, an expected plot and a great drama that ends in catharsis.
And if I already mentioned an Australian telenovela, it can not be ignored that the opening song of the series is "Can't Get You Out of My Head" by Kylie Minogue in a slow and softened version.
"The Secrets She Keeps" is a suspense drama created by Sarah Walker, who is also responsible for the immortal soap opera "Neighbors Neighbors."
And although "Secrets" is not defined as a soap opera, it certainly draws inspiration from the genre.
She tells the story of two women in Sydney, Megan, a popular parenting blogger who is in advanced pregnancy and a mother of two, and Agatha, works as a writer who is also in advanced pregnancy and suffers from mental problems that will be revealed as the episodes progress.
The two move in a parallel trajectory and the encounter between them will develop in tense directions.
The "secrets she keeps" are indeed based on the secrets that each of the participants in the series keeps to himself: infidelity, rape, children out of wedlock and more.
The problem with series like this is that you can pretty easily guess what's going to happen, and who really wants to see that he's right in his guess.
But beneath all this predictable scenario hides a message nonetheless, and that is that there may be good and bad in the world, but even the good ones hide a lot of secrets, and beneath the surface they are not as good as one might think.
The "secrets she keeps" are too predictable for 2020, so the suspense that is supposedly built while watching does not really manage to captivate viewers.
Maybe 20 years ago it could have been a hit - today it's a waste of time.
