A federal police officer is in custody as a suspected burglar in Hamburg.
He is one of a total of six suspects who are accused of burglary, said a spokeswoman for the prosecutor.
Arrest warrants were issued against three of the accused, the police officer was one of them.
The spokeswoman did not provide any further information - in order not to endanger the investigation, it said.
A spokesman for the Federal Police Inspection Hamburg confirmed the incident.
He didn't give any further details either.
According to reports from the "Hamburger Morgenpost" and the TV station Hamburg1, three suspected intruders were arrested last Thursday by officers from the LKA office "Castle" in the Alsterdorf district.
The suspects had previously been observed by investigators for a while.
Among those arrested was a pregnant woman, it was said.
The newspaper quoted the head of the Hamburg Federal Police Inspectorate, Christian Linkogel, as saying: "I regret that the committed service and the outstanding performance of the colleagues in the Federal Police in the demanding Hamburg area could be discredited."
If the allegations are confirmed, "this colleague has no place in our ranks," said Linkogel.
Employment and civil service measures have already been initiated and the federal police officer has been suspended immediately.
